Subaru has at last revealed its Impreza WRX STi performance car.

The hot Impreza has flared wheelarches, big bumpers, a new grille, rear spoiler and 18-inch alloy wheels, marking it out from the workaday 1.5 and 2.0 five-door hatch released earlier this year.

The company had drip-fed teaser photographs of the WRX STi in recent weeks and performance details still won't be released until the Tokyo motor show later this month.

However, the car goes on sale here next March, with prices expected to start at around £30,000. A slightly less powerful WRX Impreza goes on sale next month for £19,995.

More concept cars for Tokyo show
Subaru has also released details of concept cars that will be shown off in Tokyo.

First is the Exiga Concept, which is described as resembling a larger Legacy estate. The photos don't do its size justice, however. It's an MPV that can sit seven adults, making it nearer to the size of a Mercedes R-Class than just a big estate car.

It's powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine mated to a five-speed automatic gearbox, and its panoramic roof goes all the way back to the tailgate.

The second concept car is called G4e and is Subaru's green car for the Japanese show. The five-seater hatch is powered by lithium-ion batteries stored underneath the floor. The car is expected to have a range of 200km.
