New Mondeo 2007

Ford's new Mondeo will cost from £14,995 to £24,195 when it goes on sale in the UK in June.

Ford says the new range is, on average, £300 cheaper than equivalent outgoing models. On top of that, £700 of extra equipment is fitted, including stability control, ISOFIX child-seat mountings, steering wheel-mounted controls, driver's knee airbag and a system to prevent the wrong type of fuel being used.

In all, four trims and nine engines are available. There are five petrol engines, delivering between 109bhp and 217bhp, and four diesels, producing between 99bhp and 138bhp.

All three bodystyles are available to order from March, with saloon and hatchback priced identically, and estate models carrying a £1250 premium.

Edge - from £14,995 with 109bhp 1.6-litre petrol
Standard equipment includes seven airbags, air-conditioning, cruise control, leather steering wheel, CD stereo with MP3 player connection, electric front windows, remote central locking and electrically adjustable and heated door mirrors.

Zetec - from £16,695 with 123bhp 1.6-litre petrol
(£1000 more than equivalent Edge)

Extra equipment includes 16-inch alloy wheels, front foglights, dual-zone climate control, leather gear knob and rear electric windows.

Ghia - from £18,445 with 143bhp 2.0-litre petrol
(£1250 more than equivalent Zetec)

Added equipment includes 17-inch alloy wheels, automatic headlights and wipers, power folding door mirrors and Sony stereo with six-CD in-dash autochanger.

Titanium X - from £21,245 with 123bhp 1.8-litre diesel
(£2000 more than equivalent Zetec)

Standard features also include full Alcantara/leather upholstery, adaptive headlights, tinted glass and upgraded instrument cluster.
