Hummer's H3 4x4 goes on sale in the UK today, with prices starting at £26,495.

The car is powered by a five-cylinder 3.7-litre petrol engine developing 241bhp and 242lb ft of pull. Diesel and biofuel versions are planned within three years.

Two gearboxes are offered - a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic.

Average fuel economy for the manual is 20.4mpg, and 19.5 for the automatic.

Emissions are 327g/km for the manual, and 346g/km for the automatic, putting each in the highest (VED) road tax band G, costing £300 a year (£400 from March next year).

Standard equipment includes air-conditioning, electric windows, a six-speaker stereo system, cruise control, traction control and full-time four-wheel drive with high and low ratios.

Three trims will be available - SE, Adventure and Luxury. SE cars come with all of the items mentioned above, but Adventure cars add leather-trimmed, heated, electrically adjustable seats, an off-road suspension package, a locking rear differential, chrome trim and a seven-speaker stereo.

Luxury cars have a full leather interior, 16-inch chrome wheels plus chrome side steps and roof bars.

The cars are available from Hummer's three UK dealers in Manchester, London and Birmingham.
