Jaguar tweaks outgoing S-type
- R version cut by £5000
- New entry-level car costs £29,000
- New XF model due in 2008
Jaguar has face-lifted its outgoing S-type, improved equipment levels and slashed prices by as much as £5040.
All S-types, which will be replaced by the XF in spring 2008, now use the bumper and mesh grille from the range-topping R version. New alloy wheels are also introduced, and Jaguar says interiors are improved with new materials and added equipment.
Entry-level Classic trim and S specification are axed from the range, so the line up now starts with Spirit cars.
Priced at £28,995 for the 3.0-litre petrol and £29,995 for the 2.7-litre diesel, Spirit models are £1000 cheaper than S-trimmed examples, but better-equipped with electrically adjustable leather seats and a six-speed automatic transmission.
XS models replace Sport cars. Although the automatic is now standard, along with reversing sensors, prices drop £1000 to £31,995 for the petrol and £32,995 for the diesel.
SE models increase in price by £455 to £33,495 for the 3.0-litre and £34,495 for the diesel. New equipment includes 10-way electrically adjustable seats, new 18-inch alloy wheels and rain-sensing wipers.
The hot R version drops in price from £50,040 to £45,000.
