Mitsubishi L200 2006

Mitsubishi will launch seven new models in the next three years, including a clutch of new 4x4s.

First up is the all-new L200 pick-up, which goes on sale in the UK next March. The car will be unveiled on December 1 at the Bologna Motor Show.

Mitsubishi will launch the Colt CZC convertible in the summer, a direct rival to the Micra C+C.

By the end of next year we’ll also have the next-generation Shogun, while its smaller brother, the Outlander, will be replaced by an all-new model early in 2007. Although it goes on sale in Japan this year, European production doesn’t start until the end of 2006.

The new Ford Focus-sized Lancer also goes on sale in 2007 alongside the high-performance Evo version of the car. Both have been unveiled in concept car form at the recent Frankfurt and Tokyo Motor Shows.

Mitsubishi won't say what the seventh model is, but a new Shogun Sport is a good bet. It would be a fairly simple job for the company to take the new L200 platform and turn it into another 4x4, just like Nissan has done with its Navara pick-up and Pathfinder off-roader.
