New 2013 BMW Z4 unveiled
- Face-lifted BMW Z4 roadster
- Cosmetic tweaks, new entry-level model
- On sale in March, from around £29,000
The 2013 BMW Z4 roadster has been unveiled ahead of its official debut at the 2013 Detroit motor show in January. The updated Z4 gets subtle cosmetic tweaks and a new entry-level engine. It goes on sale in March.
Exterior cosmetic changes are limited to new headlight lenses, side indicator repeater trim and optional alloy wheels.
The interior gains high-gloss black surrounds for the air vents and iDrive controller. A new wood trim option has been added and a new Design Pure Traction option pack includes Alcantara interior trim, with contrasting orange panels and stitching.
A new entry-level sDrive18i model will join the range; it has a 154bhp turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol engine with average economy of 41.5mpg and CO2 emissions of 159g/km.
Most of the Z4's six-cylinder engines gave way to four-cylinder units in 2011; the rest of the engine line-up is unchanged.
Prices for the 2013 BMW Z4 are yet to be confirmed. We'd expect a small increase for most models, although the new entry-level model should drop the starting point to around £29,000.
