New Continental GTC: 190mph, roof down
- New Continental GTC performance details
- 0-62mph in 4.8secs
- Topless top speed of 190mph
Top-down, wind-in-your-hair motoring is one thing, but at 190mph?
That's how fast the new Bentley Continental GTC convertible can theoretically travel with the roof down.
Fold the Bentley's fabric roof up and you can extend that to 195mph, just 3mph less than the coupe. It takes 20 seconds to operate the roof, and it can be done at speeds of up to 20mph.
From a standing start, the convertible, which makes its first public appearance at the New York Motor show today, can also reach 60mph in 4.8 seconds, only 0.1 seconds behind the coupe. That's thanks to the enormous 552bhp 6.0-litre W12 engine under the bonnet.
Luggage space drops from 370 litres in the coupe to a supermini-sized 235 litres in the convertible with the roof down, casting doubt on Bentley's claims that you can 'carry skis and golf bags or travel bags simultaneously.'
Deliveries of the GTC start towards the end of this year. Prices are yet to be announced, but expect to pay from around £130,500.
