New tax-efficient A4s here by summer
- Lower-powered A4s by July
- 118bhp petrol and diesel engines
- Eco models also considered
Company car tax-busting Audi A4s will be on sale here by July.
Powered by a lower-powered 118bhp version of its 2.0-litre turbodiesel engine, the new model has CO2 emissions of 134g/km for the saloon and 139g/km for the Avant.
That puts the cars into the 18% company car tax band. The saloon will cost from £24,050, but prices have not yet been released for the estate model (Avant).
With the rising cost of diesel in mind, the A4 will also get a 118bhp version of the 1.8 TFSI petrol engine. The CO2 emissions for both the saloon and Avant will be 169g/km. That compares with the 172g/km the 160bhp 1.8-litre model emits. The saloon will cost from £19,900.
Meanwhile Audi is considering a greener A4, powered by the lower-powered 2.0-litre diesel. CO2 emissions of this model would be 129g/km.
Like the BlueMotion and Econetic models from VW and Ford, the A4 would achieve the low emissions with aerodynamic modifications and low-resistance tyres.
Audi showed off a concept version of the car at last year's Frankfurt motor show, and although it hasn't been confirmed so far, insiders expect to see it built.
