The Smart Roadster will be reborn in Wales next year, according to Project Kimber.

Project Kimber – the consortium who tried to buy MG Rover last year – says a number of sites in South Wales are being considered with the goal of building around 8000 cars of the car a year.

It is also continuing to seek investors to fund the new factory.

Smart axed the Roadster and Forfour from its range to concentrate on its original Fortwo city car. A new Fortwo will go on sale in 2007.
