Second i for Hyundai
- Hyundai i10 citycar launched
- On sale here March 2008
- Expect £6k price tag for entry model
Hyundai has launched the replacement for its Amica citycar, the i10.
This is the second of Hyundai's i generation of models – the first being the i30 five-door family hatch, released earlier this year.
Three engines will be available for the i10 – a 65bhp 1.1-litre and 77bhp 1.2-litre petrol engine, and a 75bhp 1.0-litre diesel. The petrol engines are good for 56.5mpg on the average cycle, with the diesel capable of 65.7mpg.
Both petrol and diesel engines emit less than 120g/km of carbon dioxide, putting them into road tax (VED) band B.
Every i10 comes with four airbags, air-con and a CD player and, although prices have yet to be confirmed, expect to pay less than £6000 for the entry-level model when it goes on sale in the UK in March.
This puts the i10 in competition with the likes of Toyota's Aygo and the Kia Picanto.
