Skoda Scouts for new buyers

23 August 2006

  • Based on standard 4x4 Octavia estate
  • Ride height increased a further 16mm
  • Likely to cost from around £17,500.

Octavia Scout

Skoda will pull the wraps from this new Octavia Scout at the Paris Motor Show next month.

It's based on the standard 4x4 Octavia estate, and although there's no alternation to the 4x4 system found there, ride height is increased an additional 16mm. That means it rides 56mm higher than a front wheel-drive Octavia.

Extra body cladding lends the Scout a tougher 4x4 look, while a sump guard and skidplates provide protection against scrapes.

Seventeen-inch alloys are standard, and the Scout gets special upholstery and a passenger grab handle on the dash.

Engine choice is restricted to the most powerful diesel and petrol units in the range – the 2.0 TDI with 137bhp and the 2.0 FSI with 148bhp, both driving through a six-speed manual gearbox.

Prices expected to start at around £17,500 when the Scout goes on sale next year.
