Special edition Renaultsport for Megane

17 January 2006

  • New model to celebrate F1 win
  • Trim includes 18-inch alloys and Recaro seats
  • Detail changes to all other Renaultsport models

The flagship Renaultsport models in the new, face-lifted Renault Megane range are to be given a special edition to celebrate the company's Constructors' and Fernando Alonso's Drivers' Formula One World Championship.

The Megane Renaultsport 225 Cup, which includes £1450-worth of equipment for £900 more than a standard Cup model, gains a 60-Watt CD/MP3 player, climate control, 18-inch black gloss alloy wheels, Recaro front seats and blue detailing on the steering wheel and gearstick gaiter.

The three-door hatchback costs £19,500, and also comes with Ultra-blue paintwork, a numbered plaque on the centre console (although Renault says it is not a limited edition), and Renault F1 Team decals on the front wings and front and rear bumpers.

Improvements to standard Renaultsport models
Just as the rest of the Megane range receives various tweaks as part of its face-lift, so do the three Renaultsport models.

The changes are mainly cosmetic, and Renault has attempted to differentiate more between the standard 225 model and the 225 Cup version. The latter receives blue and black 'Scotec' cloth interior, while the standard car now has full leather interior, climate control, and 60-Watt CD/MP3 player as standard. Prices for the updated models remain the same.
