Ford's busy preparing for the arrival of the Mondeo this May, but its arch rival from Vauxhall is waiting in the wings.

Vauxhall unveiled a concept version of the Vectra's replacement at the recent Geneva motor show in the hope of stealing some of the limelight from the new Mondeo, which was also on the stands.

This computer-generated image shows how the GTC Concept will be turned into a production reality by next year, possibly with its grand unveiling at the London Motor Show in the summer.

Vauxhall has said that the Vectra name won't continue with the new model. It hasn't indicated what name it might use for the new family car, but Insignia is thought to be a front-runner.
