The Skoda Citigo is built on the same set of parts as the posher VW Up, and it features that car’s great driving characteristics, with a slick gearbox, direct steering and an accomplished, comfortable ride around town. It has just about enough pace there too, although it does find motorways more of a struggle.
This five-door edition has good access to the rear cabin, and in SE trim it comes with air-conditioning, remote central locking, electric front windows and stability control.
True, the fascia can’t match the showbiz flair of the Up’s, but it’s easy to use, clearly laid out and nicely screwed together.
The Citigo looks appealing at less than £9000 if you haggle down to our Target Price – but perhaps its real strength comes through Skoda’s PCP offers, which let you have this car on your driveway for as little as £69 per month. At that price, it’s sensational value..
