Seat Leon SC
The Leon SC is a newcomer this year. We've gone for the 138bhp 1.4-litre model, which has plenty of get up and go when you need it to look lively, and easily copes with longer trips on the motorway.
It's a sweet, free-spinning engine that loves to be revved, and it's complemented by a gearbox that's light and quick to shift.
Granted, the Leon SC isn't what you'd call the sleekest-looking of coupés, but there are benefits to this. For a start, it has decent rear-seat head- and legroom for three adults, and getting into and out of the rear seats can be accomplished by people who aren't world-level gymnasts. There's a good boot behind them, too.
Our chosen Leon SC stacks up financially. It's already available with decent discounts, and our True MPG team has recorded an average of 43.5mpg, which is pretty good for a petrol car. Officially, it emits 119g/km of CO2, which puts it in the 15% band for company car tax.
