Renault Megane Renaultsport 265 Cup
This is the fifth time the Mégane Renaultsport 265 Cup has won our top-priced hot hatch gong. make it a great hot hatch .
That’s because this squat, muscular hatch continues to delight with its blistering pace and direct, responsive handling.
The Mégane range is due a face-lift very shortly, but the mechanicals will remain identical. That means the same 261bhp engine that loves to rev, stiffer suspension, plus a limited-slip differential to improve traction.
The grip, composure, and pace really do make this a thrill-a-minute car. To top it all, it’s fairly amenable on the motorway and in town.
The seating position is just about perfect, which makes the driving experience all the more rewarding. Adults sat in the back might complain about the restricted foot room, and while the boot is a good size, it’s not the most easy-to-access.
None of this detracts from what it is an outstanding driver’s car, though.
