ABS (Anti-lock Brakes) - Any system which uses a series of sensors to prevent the car's wheels locking up under braking, leading to a skid. By rapidly releasing and then re-applying the car's brakes, ABS allows the driver to maintain control while reducing speed in extreme circumstances.
