Congestion charging - One idea to try to reduce traffic congestion is to charge people to drive in crowded areas and put the money raised into public transport.
Driving into London's congestion charge zone will cost you £8. Durham has also introduced a congestion charge in a limited area, and other cities are looking at introducing similar schemes. For more information on the London scheme, check out www.cclondon.com.
Some Alternative Fuel Vehicles are entitled to a 100% discount from London's Congestion Charge. Click here for a full list of eligible cars, from the Energy Saving Trust's website.
