NCSR - New Car Security Ratings are available for almost every new car on sale in the UK, both in the back of What Car? or online at www.ncsr.co.uk. Research is carried out by Thatcham (see also Thatcham) and, from its attack tests, two figures are published, for theft of and theft from a car. The former assesses the effectiveness of the immobiliser, while the latter looks at the security of the locks. The higher the figure out of five, the more secure the car.
