V - Versatility

05 June 2006

Versatility - In the past, if you wanted versatility in a car, you were pretty much confined to buying an MPV, or Multi-Purpose Vehicle. Now, though, things have moved on and many more humble cars can offer some of an MPV's tricks.

The Honda Jazz supermini, for example, has enough seat-folding tricks to shame a genuine MPV. Similarly, you can get seven seats in many 4x4s, while Volvo's engineers have applied a lot of MPV thinking to the company's V70 estate. In the small-hatch market, Honda's Civic has many characteristics of a midi-MPV.
