Critical illness insurance - This insurance pays out a lump sum if you are diagnosed with a life-threatening illness, and may be needed to cover any finance owing on your car as well as your mortgage and bills. You decide how many conditions you want covered when buying the cover.
Most policies cover around five serious health threats, but you can add more at an extra cost. Critical illness insurance can also be included as part of a life assurance policy and is available from most insurance companies.
