The Audi A8 is to receive a facelift early next year, before undergoing a radical makeover in either 2016 or 2017.
Starting with the 2013 facelift, the German car manufacturer has opted to focus its attention on giving the engine of the Audi A8 a bit more bite.
As such, the V8 TDI unit will be boosted so that it can perform up to 400hp. On top of this, plans are being put into place to give Audi A8's W12 unit a twin-turbo setup.
The next-generation of the Audi A8, touted for release before 2017, is where car lovers can expect to see an all-round radical change to the model.
Current murmurings by the German car maker suggest that the new Audi A8 will be stripped of its all-aluminium body and replaced with a hybrid one which mixes high-strength steel with composite materials.
Another notable rumour is that the architecture of the vehicle would be altered to offer RWD configurations, thus making it the first RWD sedan from Audi since the end of the war.
