Audi has launched a range of new models in the shape of new all-wheel drive versions of the latest A3 Saloon, A6 Saloon and A6 Avant models, which will ensure the models are ready to weather what the winter will throw at them.
The all-new A3 Saloon range will include the advanced directly and indirectly injected 1.8-litre TFSI engine with quattro drive.
It is the first model in the four-door range to adopt multi-plate clutch-based quattro technology and will be joined later this year by the addition of a 300 PS s3 quattro Saloon.
In the A6 line-up, buyers opting for the lead-in V6 TDI engine will be able to channel all of its 240 PS to all four wheels.
Audi's addition of all-wheel drive to its model ranges comes after the Met Office announced it recorded 97 rainfall days, when more than 1.0mm of rain fell, up to the end of September.
Globally last year, more than 43 per cent of Audi customers opted for the added reassurance of quattro, and the Neckarsulm plant in Germany - home of Audi high performance division quattro GmbH - equipped half of the vehicles on the production line with the technology.
A new 1.8-litre TFSI quattro Saloon has been added to the A3 series, complete with a six-speed S tronic twin-clutch transmission with ultra-fast shift pattern, splitting its 180PS four ways.
With all of this technology, it can reach 62mph from rest in just 6.8 seconds, a similar acceleration to the new 204 PS A6 3.0 TDI quattro, which benefits from a torque boost over its eight-speed multitronic transmission-equipped, front-wheel drive equivalent, from 400Nm to 450Nm.
The 204 PS V6 TDI quattro is one of three new engines in the A6 range featuring the crown gear centre differential-based version of the quattro all-wheel-drive system, alongside the 3.0 V6 TDI engine with 245 PS and the 313 PS V6 BiTDI.
