Ford are planning five new models for what is set to be there biggest ever stand at the Frankfurt Motor Show, it will even have its own 2,800m2 track. Fords main vehicle the focus will take centre stage showing a concept of Fords future styling direction, as well as two new performance versions of the Ford Focus.
Leading the charge will be concept simply dubbed as the Kinetic 2.0, you can see a small teaser of this on Fords official invite, but dont expect to see this on the roads until 2014. A spokesman for Ford revealed the concept was “seventy to eighty percent confirmed for production” but Ford wanted to gauge customer feedback by showing it early, before a final decision is reached.
The Focus ST which was first shown at the Paris Motor Show in 2010 will lead the production models at the Frankfurt Motor Show. One change to the concept Ford Focus ST shown last year is that the less efficient five cylinder turbo charged engine has gone, in its place a 2.0 litre direct injection engine that produces 247bhp enabling it to reach 0-62mph in sub six seconds and go onto hit a limited top speed of 155mph. Which puts it on the same playing field as its nearest rival the Renault RS Megane 250, but this time the focus will only be available in a hatch back version, so no coupe this time around for the Focus.
Joining the Ford Focus ST will be its long awaited little brother the Ford Fiesta ST, both models will hit the showrooms next year. The Fiesta ST will feature 1.6-litre EcoBoost engine tuned to produce 200bhp and will feature the Focuss torque vectoring system to aid handling. Aggressive styling is the order of the day too for the new Fiesta ST, with flared wheel arches front and rear, gaping honeycomb grille, rear spoiler and a diffuser which houses the twin exhausts help complete the sporty look.
Also featuring at Frankfurt will be the Ford B-MAX with an ultra efficient 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine and the Ford Ranger pick-up which will be available in five different bodystyles with a new 2.2-litre TDCi engine producing 148bhp.
