Kia cee'd Sportswagon wins Best Estate Car at diesel awards

The Kia cee'd Sportswagon secured the crown of Best Estate Car at this year's Diesel Car magazine awards.

Facing competition from the Mazda 6 Tourer and the Jaguar XF Sportbrake, the Sportswagon prevailed, with the publication's editor Ian Robertson championing its "well-designed practicality" and "excellent driving calibre in an attractive package".

The Kia Sorento was also commended at the awards in its mainstream 4x4 class, while the Rio got a nod in the mainstream small car class to round off a successful showing at the ceremony.

"We are delighted that Diesel Car has awarded the cee'd Sportswagon best estate car for 2013," said Paul Philpott, president and chief executive at Kia Motors UK.

"Its unrivalled combination of space, functionality and engine performance, wrapped up in a premium design and backed up with our seven-year warranty, gave us great confidence that we had a best-in-class product."

The cee-d Sportswagon launched in September 2012 and comes in two engine options - 1.4-litre 89bhp and 1.6-litre CRDi 126bhp. Prices in the UK start from £16,895 on-the-road.
