The launch of this new Audi A3 Saloon means that compact Audi fans can now have their new A3 in three body styles, this new Saloon - which has just gone on sale - and the familiar 3-door and 5-door Sportback variants.
Priced from £24,275, the first ever ‘three-box‘ A3 marks Audi's first strike into the world’s largest new car market segment; the compact saloon class. This class of new car is very popular in China where a boot is a must, and it is China were most manufacturers are seeing their biggest sales growth.
The new A3 Saloon is longer than the five-door A3 Sportback by 14cm and wider by 11mm, and sits 9mm lower. The Saloon's interior space matches that of its Sportback cousins, but the new compact four-door shell gets 425 litres of luggage space with the rear seats in place; some 45 litres more than the five-door car. And it's all stored in an entirely separate boot.
The A3 Saloon will get two TFSI petrol engines and one TDI engine at launch, ranging in power through 140bhp,150bhp, and 180bhp for the fastest petrol motor. The order books are open no, with the first deliveries expected in September.
