New engine models for the Volkswagen Beetle announced

Two additional engine derivatives are to be added to the Volkswagen Beetle product range, the German car maker has revealed.

Drivers will be able to order the two new varieties from today, with both models set to hit showrooms in January 2013.

The new Volkswagen Beetle models come in the shape of a vehicle with a 1.2-litre TSI 105 PS engine, which packs in a six-speed manual gearbox, and one with a 1.6-litre TDI 105 PS motor.

For the 1.6-litre engine variety, drivers are given the opportunity to sample Volkswagen's BlueMotion Technology and choose between a five-speed manual or a seven-speed DSG transmission gearbox.

The strategy creates a new entry level for the latest Volkswagen Beetle range, as well as completing the line-up.

First launched in March 2012, the vehicle has been made available in three standard trim levels – Beetle, Design and Sport – and the special editions of the Turbo Black and Turbo Silver.
