2013 Honda Civic Type R

New Civic Type R The new Civic Type R will be Hondas first car fitted with a turbo and it is set to be the fastest version to date. Honda says that the New Type R has made good progress under the hands of the German tuning experts Mugen.

The biggest hot hatch market in Europe is the UK and the Honda Type R has already proven to be a popular choice amongst enthusiasts, this was down to its high revving engine and unique sporty styling. Honda will have to change this combination slightly to meet the new emission regulations set up by the Government, so Honda now plan to use a 2.0 litre turbo which will help cut emissions.

By adding a turbo the new Honda Civic Type R will have more power lower in the rev range, this means efficiency will improve as you wont have to work the engine as hard. The power of the new Type R will be increased to 210bhp which means 0-62mph will come in a time of 6.5 seconds with a top speed of 150mph.

Honda Civic Type R More Power and turboThe new 2012 Honda Civic and the Civic Type R will share a few standard features such as the front grille, slim headlights and LED daytime running lights. As for the rest of the bodywork the Type R will feature a collection of mesh air intakes, a lower front spoiler and large side skirts. The rear is dominated by a large spoiler and diffuser which houses the exhausts these should improve the stability at high speeds and grip should be improved by a wider chassis.

Most Hot Hatches usually come as 3 door with a 5 door usually coming at a later date, but Honda will offer the Civic Type R as a five-door only. Expect prices to start at £23,000 when released in 2013.
