Renault R-Space

Brand New Renault R SpaceRenault has given us a taste of what the future of the Renault Scenic may look like with this newconcept. Renaults Design teams task was to come up with a sporty design for a new people carrier concept which will in turn make it more appealing, this is quite unusual for a sector famed for being so practical. What they came up with was the Renault R-Space which was revealed at the 2011 Geneva Motor show. At 4.3m long the Renault concept features a set of suicide doors which open to reveal a huge space as the Renault R-Space has no B pillars. The panoramic windscreen fits seamlessly into the roof line which has a chequer board effect finish to it.

Inside the Renault R-Space the cabin has been designed to accommodate all modern family needs. The two front seats are bucket seats, but the rear style sofa-bench is made up of 27 upholstered cubes which can be raised or lowered so you can configure the rear space to either form a big flat luggage area or accommodate adult passengers in the form of traditional rear bench, you can even create booster seats for children. But this kind of seating technology maybe to advanced for full scale production.

Under the bonnet the Renault R-Space is a 900cc turbocharged three-cylinder engine what delivers 109bhp and 160Nm of torque which comes from the new Renault TCe engine range which will be available in 2012. The 900cc will feature Renault's direct-injection and stop start system, Renault claim its performance will be the same as 1.6 litre engine and achieve 76mpg while producing only 95g/km of CO2. With a coefficient drag of only 0.28 the design team has come up with a very aerodynamic car which achieves 0-62mph in a time of 11secs with a top speed of 124mph.Brand New Renault R Space Inner
