Skoda to enhance fleet with launch of new Superb

Skoda is aiming to boost its fleet offerings with the launch of a new Superb hatchback and estate that boasts excellent green credentials.

While more than 60 per cent of Superb sales are to fleets, Skoda's brand director Alasdair Stewart feels that its CO2 figures have held it back to some degree.

"The retail side of the business is up 30 per cent this year, but if you are going to grow, you have got to grow in the fleet market and the outgoing car had relatively high CO2 figures," he said.

The engine range, which includes a 1.6-litre diesel and two 2.0-litre units, has reduced emissions by up to 19 per cent.

What's more, the stop/start function helps to reduce CO2 too, with emissions beginning at 109g/km for the Greenline diesel hatchback and 113g/km for its estate counterpart.

The new Superbs are set go on sale July 17th, with the manufacturer also launching a new Yeti, Rapid and Roomster later on in the year.
