New Toyota Yaris

Brand New Toyota YarisThe next Toyota Yaris has been unveiled and here are the first official pictures of the Japanese firms next supermini which should arrive in the UK no later than September 2011. The official pictures released show the Japanese market Toyota Yaris which is called the Vitz over there, but the Uk version Yaris should look the same as in the pictures when it arrives. Toyotas newcomer has been designed with agility and sophistication in mind. The result of this is that the Toyota design team has come up with a new Yaris that features angular corners than its predecessor, with sculpted bumpers and pointy headlights That add a little extra attitude. The new Toyota Yaris body design is more efficient due to the body having a low drag value of 0.285. The new Yaris is 10cm longer than the current model, and with an extra 5cm between its wheelbase which helps improve the cabin space especially in the rear. The Yaris has also shed 30kg thanks to some minor weight saving features like only fitting one windscreen wiper which helps the Yaris come in at just 1,000kg. Toyota claim that refinement and comfort have also been improved thanks to better seats and noise insulation materials. Toyota decided to go with a conventional dashboard layout for the new Yaris, so out goes the current speedo that is mounted centrally. The new Yaris will have a choice of two engines either a 1.0 litre engine with 68bhp and a 1.33 litre with 93bhp. The larger of the two engines will get Toyota stop start system which helps return fuel economy figures of 74.9mpg. The UK version Toyota Yaris will feature a manual gearbox as standard. A larger 1.5 litre engine might be available in the UK at a later date, joined by a diesel and then eventually a hybrid model which should arrive here in the UK by 2012.
