Vauxhall unveiled a concept two seater car which is an all-electric commuter called the RAKe.
The two seater Concept Vauxhall RAKe is a car Governments may look at backing if they do decide to ban cars from city centres to help with the drive for cleaner motoring and Vauxhall will be ready. This plan could not only see cars band from city centre but all modes of transport that use combustion engines in city centres could be replaced by fleets of small electric vehicles like the two seater Vauxhall RAKe.
Nick Reilly President of General Motors Europe said the two seat Vauxhall RAKe is the perfect solution for crowded cities, but the government must invest more and support the development, or run the risk of firms in such places as China leaving Western firms trailing behind. Reilly also said that this type of car would be perfect for the car sharing and rental systems like the popular bicycle scheme in central London. And all of this could be looked after by a large company such as Avis who manages large fleets every day, drivers could gain access to the vehicles via a London Oyster card type of system.
Mr. Reilly also added that Vauxhall needs to be ready for when the Governments pushes for tougher emission controls, and he believes the Vauxhall RAKe is a good enough concept which they can use to help gain all important government backing.
