Volkswagen SUV concept to debut at Shanghai Auto Show

Volkswagen is to unveil a new SUV concept entitled the CrossBlue Coupe at next week's Shanghai Auto Show.

The five-seat vehicle's dimensions give it a low profile yet wide appearance that gives ita muscular and sport aesthetic.

Its drivetrain boasts a plug-in hybrid system with a V6 turbocharged direct injection fuel engine, as well as two electric motors at the front and the rear, which can together produce 415 PS.

The CrossBlue Coupe go zero to 62mph in a mere 5.9 seconds and can reach a top speed of 146mph. Despite this impressive performance, it registers a notable 94.1mpg. When it hybrid mode, however, it gets 40.9 mpg. With its 80-litre fuel tank, the vehicle has a theoretical range of 740 miles.

Its interior will feature the latest features, such as mini iPads integrated into the head rests.

The Shanghai Auto Show runs between April 21st and 29th and will display some 1,300 car models to over 800,000 attendees.
