Some manufacturers look like they are planning for the future and at Volkswagen it looks like the future are small and electric. First it was the Vauxhall RAKe and now Volkswagen have shown there cards with the quirky Nils Concept. A spokesman for Volkswagen said the “Nils is just a prototype which could be used as a personal commuting vehicle. Although this is a completely different to anything currently on the roads, If people are interested then there's always a chance it could be put into production”.
The Nils power comes from 5.3kWh lithium-ion battery pack that powers a small motor which produces 34bhp. This is enough to power the Nils from 0-62mph in a time of 11 seconds thanks to its light weight aluminium constructed frame which comes in at only 460kg. Due to this light weight construction of the Volkswagen Nils steering is very light so power steering is no longer necessary.
Main design features of the Volkswagen Nils are as follows, one-seat layout, 17 inch aluminium wheels and a two glass doors that open upwards to make getting in and out of the Volkswagen Nils easier.
