Deliveries of the Audi A6 Avant start in spring this year

Audi has priced its new A6 Avant estate, but savvy buyers should be able to get discounts straight away.

Prices start at £26,505 for a 175bhp 2.4-litre petrol model in SE trim, which means the A6 in estate form costs £2080 more than the saloon. Deliveries to customers will begin in spring 2005.

Online brokers are already quoting discounts of between 8% and 11% on the cars, with delivery taking as little as 10 weeks.

The What Car? Target Price mystery shoppers have also confirmed that buyers who visit showrooms can find considerable discounts. They suggest you should aim for a minimum saving of 3% below the asking price.

Buyers have a choice of 14 versions of the A6 Avant to choose from. Besides the entry-level 2.4-litre petrol version, there is a 253bhp 3.2-litre, priced from £32,605, and a 4.2-litre model costing from £44,805 and offering 330bhp. The two diesel engines on offer are a 178bhp 2.7-litre unit and a 222bhp 3.0-litre.

All A6 Avants are available in comfort-focused SE trim or sportier S-line specification. Quattro four-wheel drive is also an option on every model.
