BMW has confirmed its first diesel convertible will go on sale early next year.
The 320Cd is likely to cost around £28,000, although no official price has yet been released.
Due to be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in two weeks’ time, the drop-top uses the familiar 150bhp engine already seen in the 320Cd Coupe. It powers the convertible to 60mph in 9.7sec, to a top speed of 131mph, and returns 44.8mpg on the combined cycle. Emissions figures are yet to be released but should be low enough to keep the car below the 20% company car tax threshold.
Cars will be available with a six-speed manual gearbox, and will be offered in SE or Sport trim levels.
Standard equipment will include anti-lock brakes, six airbags, stability control, reversing sensors, cruise control and a single-slot CD player. Sport variants add body kit, sports seats and suspension, and 18-inch alloy wheels.
