Chrysler has revealed details of the cars that will spearhead the launch of the Dodge brand in the UK – and they include mainstream models to rival Ford’ Focus and Mondeo.
Dodge models will be offered at all of Chrysler’s 88 UK dealers. First to arrive will be the 500bhp SRT10 roadster early next year.
Next up will be a Focus-rivalling Dodge to replace the Chrysler Neon around the middle of 2006, while the company will introduce a Mondeo competitor early in 2007.
Chrysler is also considering bringing current Dodge models to the UK including the Ram pick-up. The company says Dodge will be more of a mainstream brand than Chrysler, with an emphasis on affordable power.
Chrysler’s portfolio of models is also set to be boosted by the arrival of new models. Besides the Crossfire roadster, which has just gone on sale, a hot SRT6 version of the Crossfire coupe will hit showrooms at the end of this year.
The 300C saloon, a rival for the BMW 5-series, will be launched in October 2005, and may also be given the high-performance SRT treatment.
Also on the way for 2005 is an all-new Jeep Grand Cherokee to take on the likes of Volvo’s XC90 and the BMW X5.
