C-Max declared 'allergy-friendly'

The Ford Focus C-Max is the first car to receive the seal of approval from the British Allergy Foundation.

Experts have certified that the C-Max’s interior is made of materials that significantly reduce the risk of allergies for its passengers.

Extensive scientific tests were carried out to analyse cabin air quality and the concentration of chemicals such as formaldehyde and phenols. Seat covers, floor mats and seat belts were also dermatologically tested.

Ford avoided using latex or nickel materials because they can provoke allergic reactions. The car is also fitted with a pollen filter.

Derrick Kuzack, Ford of Europe Vice President for product development, said: ‘We’re committed to having allergy tested interiors in all our cars.’

At present, over 20 million people in the UK suffer from some sort of allergy, including four out of every 10 children.
