Cadillac is promising a long-term commitment to UK customers, as its CTS saloon goes on sale this month.
Cadillac is attempting to establish itself in the UK and in Europe, but said its parent company GM recognises this could take up to 10 years to happen.
Gerard Jansen, chief operating officer Cadillac and Corvette Europe, said at the launch of the £24,850 CTS: ‘There are three reasons why Cadillac will succeed in the UK this time around – passion, dedication and commitment.’
Jansen said Cadillacs will be specifically tailored for European markets, with extensive testing on UK roads. As part of this, next year’s Vauxhall Vectra-based BLS saloon is a Europe-only model.
At the moment, Cadillac’s only UK dealership is in Park Lane, London, but new showrooms will be opened in Birmingham, Cardiff and Manchester over the next few weeks. Outlets in Edinburgh and Leeds will the join the network over the next 12 months.
Currently, the CTS is the only right-hand-drive model in the Cadillac range, although left-hand-drive versions of the XLR roadster and STS luxury saloon are available in the UK. Right-hand-drive examples of the STS will not arrive until early 2006, when the right-hand-drive BLS compact executive also swings into showrooms.
