Ford has launched a new driver training course for young or inexperienced motorists who want to take advantage of its free insurance offers.
Run in association with the AA Driving School, the free one-day course covers six key areas, from town and city driving to motoring at night.
Buyers who have recently passed their test or do not have any no-claims discount must complete the course if they want to take advantage of Ford’ free insurance offers.
Ford’ marketing director, Peter Fleet, said he hoped the scheme would improve inexperienced drivers’ abilities by covering areas not included in the driving test. ‘Our hope is that they will be safer drivers and they should also be able to look forward to lower insurance costs in future years,’ he said.
Statistics show that although new drivers make up just 10% of the motoring population, they are involved in 29% of all road accidents.
Ford is currently offering one year’s free insurance on the Ka (Style and Collection), Fiesta (LX, Zetec, Flame and Black) and the Focus TDCi Sport until the end of September.
