Ford owners who have been in a collision will now be faced with lower repair bills after the manufacturer cut the cost of spare parts on selected models.
Replacement front wings, bonnets and radiator grilles are now as much as 31% cheaper on Ka, Fiesta, Escort and Mondeo models. Depending on the model, cars registered between 1989 and 2000 will be suitable for the cheaper parts.
Although insurance groupings are as yet unaffected by possible lower repair bills, Ford says the price cuts will mean fewer models will need to be classified as write-offs.
Ford’ collision repair marketing manager, Keith Reed, said: ‘These price reductions are targeted at older vehicles, which can often be written off simply because their lower residual values make them uneconomic to repair. Our lower prices should mean that more customers will get their car back.’
Ford claims owners and workshops prefer its parts over aftermarket spares which it says could threaten any anti-perforation warranty remaining on a car if fitted. It hopes to extend the price cut to more parts in the future.
