Hyundai takes on the Freelander - Introduction

19 July 2004
This is Hyundai’s new Tucson compact 4x4, a rival to the Land Rover Freelander which will hit UK showrooms this October.

With its butch alloy wheels, bulbous wheelarches and raised ground clearance, the five-door Tucson certainly looks the part, but Hyundai promises it will have genuine off-road ability, too, thanks to its smart-thinking four-wheel-drive system.

Prices are likely to start at around £15,000 and the Tucson should be generously equipped, making it decent value for money next to the Freelander, which starts at £15,995.
