This is the all-new Jeep Grand Cherokee which goes on sale in the UK this spring.
Petrol models arrive first and give buyers the choice of two V8s – a 224bhp 4.7-litre or a 322bhp 5.7-litre. A 215bhp 3.0-litre diesel that provides 376lb ft of pulling power will be available from June. Prices should start at around £31,000.
The latest Grand Cherokee is bigger than its predecessor. Wheelbase and overall length grow a significant 91mm and 129mm respectively to create more space in the cabin for passengers.
With the 60/40 split rear seats folded, however, the new Grand Cherokee accommodates 151 litres less luggage than before, at 1908 litres.
Entry-level Laredo versions use the 3.0-litre diesel or 4.7-litre petrol and are fitted with a full-time four-wheel drive system. Buyers can have any of the engines in Limited trim, which also includes a more capable off-roading system with locking differentials and low-range gear ratios.
All cars will be kitted out with stability control, stability programmes, electric front seats, alloy wheels, dual-zone climate control, remote central locking and a CD player. Limited cars also feature leather upholstery, rain-sensing wipers, upgraded stereo and electrically adjustable pedals.
