Kia recalls 6000 Sedona MPVs

Six thousand Kia Sedona MPVs are being called in to have wheel bearings and oil-pump strainers replaced.

In 5642 Sedonas built between June and October 2004, there is a possibility of premature wear of the rear wheel bearing, Kia says. In the US, there have been a small number of cases where the rear wheel bearing cap has not been tightly sealed, allowing moisture to accumulate. There have been no reported cases in the UK.

Dealers will fit modified rear wheel bearing caps and replace any worn bearings.

A further 446 vehicles built between July and August 2004 may have an incorrectly fitted oil-pump strainer. In extreme cases, this could restrict the supply of oil to the engine. No instances have been reported, but dealers will replace the oil strainer.

Affected owners will be contacted by Kia and advised to take their vehicle to a dealership. Owners will not be charged for the work.
