Kia recalls Sorento 4x4s

17 December 2004

Kia is recalling Sorento 4x4s for two separate safety checks.

In the first, 3500 owners are being contacted over the possibility of the alternator belt slipping off, which can cause steering and braking difficulties.

In the second campaign, 1152 cars are being recalled for checks on the automatic transmission. The manufacturer has found that a part in the transmission may become loose and cause the Sorento to roll forward when in reverse gear.

All owners are being contacted by letter with the offer of free checks and remedial work at their local dealership.

No instances of either fault have been recorded in the UK but more information is available on the Kia Helpline on 0118 9458545.
