Kia is recalling more than 800 of its recently launched Sportage 4x4s for checks on the parking brake.
The manufacturer has found that the parking brake may fail to engage even when correctly operated, although no cases have yet been reported in the UK.
Since its launch at the beginning of the year, 3000 of the cars have been sold. The recall, however, only affects 816 cars built between April and May.
Owners of the affected cars are being contacted and asked to arrange an appointment with their local dealer for a free parking brake assembly replacement, work which should take around 40 minutes.
Concerned customers can contact the Kia helpline on 0118 945 8545.
