The new Lexus GS executive car goes on sale this week priced from £30,400.

Four models are available in the range from the entry-level 245bhp GS300 to the 279bhp £46,755 GS430.

Base models use a 245bhp 3.0 V6 and feature 10 airbags, keyless entry and ignition, a six-CD in-dash auto-changer, cruise control, climate control, electric windows, electrically adjustable, folding and heated door mirrors, electric front seats, headlamp washers and 17-inch alloy wheels

The £35,900 GS300 SE and £38,000 GS300 SE-L use the same engine but include more equipment. The SE has a DVD satellite-navigation system, leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, an extra pair of airbags for rear-seat passengers, and memory settings for the front seats and door mirrors. The SE-L also has a sunroof, 18-inch alloy wheels and an upgraded stereo system.

The 279bhp 4.3-litre V8 GS430 crowns the range. Equipment is based on the SE-L model but also includes an adaptive cruise control system that can maintain a safe distance from the car in front. The system can also detect when a collision is unavoidable and prepare seatbelts and brakes in a bid to minimise injuries.
