The Peugeot Coupe is to receive a stay of execution – the stylish two-door will remain on sale until the end of the year, around six months longer than expected.
Right-hand-drive production ends this summer when a face-lifted model is introduced elsewhere in Europe. However, Peugeot in the UK has ordered enough cars for stock levels to last until the end of the year.
Even then, Peugeot isn’t abandoning the two-door market completely. Before stocks of the Coupe run out, the new 307 Coupe Cabriolet, with its folding metal hard-top, will hit showrooms. Expect first deliveries in September or October.
Further into the future a direct replacement for today’s Coupe is also likely. This will be based on the new 407 family car which arrives in the UK next March. There’s no firm word, however, on when the two-door version will appear.
