Price cut for convertible Astra

A cheaper, better-equipped Vauxhall Astra Convertible is now available.

Exclusiv costs £16,995

A cheaper, better-equipped Vauxhall Astra Convertible is now available.

At £16,995, the Exclusiv is £1900 cheaper than the 1.8-litre model it is based on. It carries £950 worth of extra equipment, however, including larger 17-inch alloys, a blue roof, cruise control and part-leather seats.

Although it is a special edition, Vauxhall has said there is no strict time limit for the car so it could be sold for much of 2005 if it proves popular.

Whatcar.com editor James Harding said: ‘The Exclusiv offers good value for money, but we think you should get even more knocked off the price.’

Vauxhall is tipped to launch a folding metal-roofed convertible version of the new Astra late in 2006. Production of the current convertible is expected to finish around the end of this year or early in 2006.

Ford and Volkswagen will also launch metal-roofed convertibles based on the Focus and Golf respectively in 2006.
