Prices rise by £570 to £16,950 for the car, which will end production in the next few months.
The updated Type-R now has privacy glass as well as Recaro bucket seats and a Momo steering wheel in place of the Honda items that have been used to date. Air-conditioning, however, remains a £1000 option on the car.
Under the bonnet, a lighter flywheel is fitted, which allows the 197bhp car to accelerate to 62mph 0.2sec quicker than before with a sprint time of 6.4sec.
The new five-door Honda Civic hatchback was unveiled this week, and three-door and Type-R versions are expected to make their debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2006.
